The Faculty of Languages and Translation (clt) recently conducted an innovative online examination for the Phonetics (ENG 312) course. More than 120 students participated in this examination, marking a notable milestone as it was the first Phonetics Online Assessment carried out via the Blackboard platform.

In late November, the Faculty of Languages & Translation (clt) orchestrated a dynamic orientation program for female educators. The clt, resolute in aligning the outputs of the education system with both the demands of the marketplace and the educational standards of the National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Assessment (NCAAA), has reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating quality opportunities for all through top-tier training.

Dr. Abdullah Al-Melhi, Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Translation, was a distinguished guest at The First International Conference on EFL Education (ICEFL 2016). The conference, hosted by the University of Jeddah at the Hilton Hotel from October 31 to November 2, 2016, gathered a diverse group of keynote speakers and workshop facilitators from across the globe to discuss and enhance English Language teaching practices.

The Community Service and Continuing Education Deanship at King Khalid University recently concluded a collaborative workshop with the Faculty of Languages and Translation. The workshop, titled "English Language Teaching Difficulties," provided key insights to English teachers in the Asir region.

The event drew a noteworthy crowd, with over 30 male and 25 female teachers participating, indicating the importance of the topic and the influence of the university in the region's educational development.

Mohsin Khan has earned the distinction of being the first Master Reviewer for Quality Matters at King Khalid University. Besides serving in this prestigious role, he also wears several other hats: he is a QM Online Facilitator, a Peer Reviewer, an E-learning Supervisor for the Faculty of Languages and Translation, and a dedicated workshop facilitator. Mr. Khan specializes in workshops that elucidate the methodology of Applying the QM Rubric, demonstrating a clear dedication to enhancing educational quality.

On October 31, 2016, Dr. Eyhab Bader Eddin gave an insightful presentation on the intricacies of translating euphemistic language. The seminar, titled "Translation of Death as Clad in Euphemisms," was organized by the Language Research Center of King Khalid University.

Dr. Eddin began by defining key linguistic concepts such as euphemism, orthophemism, and dyphemism. He further illuminated the motivations behind using euphemistic language and the specific realms that euphemisms typically address. He also explored the application of euphemism within the Arabic language.

On Thursday, October 27, 2016, the E-Learning Unit hosted a teacher training workshop on "Online Assessment" at 11:00 am in E-Learning Lab A/3/86. The workshop aimed to broaden the participants' understanding of online assessment methodologies and tools.

Dr. Munassir Alhamami, the Chairman, opened the session by welcoming all attendees and expressing his commendation for such workshops, recognizing their significance in promoting academic growth.

On October 24, 2016, Mr. Mahmudul Haque delivered an insightful presentation at an event organized by the Language Research Center of King Khalid University. The presentation, titled "Learner Autonomy and Metacognition in Language Learning," shed light on the facilitative role of learner autonomy in the learning process.

On October 24, 2016, the E-Learning Unit of the Faculty of Languages and Translation, under the supervision of Dean Dr. Abdullah Al-Melhi and Khalid Asiri, Deputy Director of the Mahala Campus English Language Center, organized an informative session titled "E-Learning Awareness Overview" for instructors. The event aimed to familiarize new instructors with the King Khalid University E-Learning Portal (Blackboard) and highlight its practical importance.

The English Club organized a vibrant reception on October 17, 2016, in the college foyer, aiming to promote awareness of the exciting activities planned for the semester. The event proved to be a great success, drawing the participation of more than 50 students who registered for the club and expressed their interest in upcoming events. The reception was led by esteemed individuals, including Vice Dean Dr. Ali Alamir, Chairman Dr. Munassir Alhamami, and Abdullah Asiri, the Student Activities Director, who actively engaged with all attendees throughout the event.
