The Faculty of Languages and Translation (clt) recently conducted an innovative online examination for the Phonetics (ENG 312) course. More than 120 students participated in this examination, marking a notable milestone as it was the first Phonetics Online Assessment carried out via the Blackboard platform.

The online examination was expertly developed and supervised by Dr. Yahya Asiri, who advocated that such testing methods promote a stimulating learning environment and bolster technological literacy among students. Further commenting on this initiative, Mohsin Khan, the E-Learning Supervisor, emphasized, "This examination is a testament to our commitment to maximizing the efficiency of E-Learning within the classroom setting."

This pioneering shift towards digital assessment brought forth numerous benefits, including:

  • Immediate display of unofficial scores on screen for swift feedback.
  • Individual headphones and volume control for a personalized and distraction-free testing environment.
  • Comfortable, technologically equipped testing stations for optimal test-taking conditions.
  • Enhanced test security, ensuring academic integrity.

The success of this initiative was in no small part due to the unwavering support and cooperation extended by the E-Learning Unit of the clt and the English Language Center. Furthermore, the clt would like to express heartfelt gratitude to Abdulaziz Salafi, Faruquzzaman, Dr. Irshad, Nasir Mahmoud, Rana Nadeem, Sayed Karim, Shafiq, and Shahrear Talukdar for their invaluable contribution as invigilators during the examination.
