Ahmad Al-Otaibi, a student at King Khalid University's Faculty of Languages and Translation (clt) and a respected student journalist at Aseer News, recently received recognition from HRH Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdulaziz, the Governor of the Asir Region. This commendation was in recognition of Al-Otaibi's sustained press and social media coverage of the activities undertaken by the Abha Charity Association, with Al-Otaibi serving as a representative of Aseer News.

On May 1, 2017, King Khalid University witnessed an engaging academic seminar organized by the Language Research Center of the Faculty of Languages and Translation. The star of the event was Abdullah Omar, a diligent Master's student, who held a captivating presentation titled "Awareness and Attitude of Saudi Students towards World Englishes." This presentation was a pivotal component of his ongoing MA research proposal.

King Khalid University was abuzz with intellectual vigor as it held the 12^th Annual Research Day on April 20, 2017. The event, meticulously overseen by Dean Dr. Abdullah Al-Melhi and Dr. Ismail Alrefaai, Director of the Language Research Center, commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran and a heartfelt welcome address by Dr. Al-Melhi. He underscored the pivotal role that the Annual Research Day plays in fostering new insights, driving innovative inquiries, and creating an inclusive platform for imaginative discovery.

Under the supervision of Dean Dr. Abdullah Al-Melhi, the Faculty of Languages and Translation (clt) recently partnered with the College of Applied Medical Sciences (CAMS) to offer a comprehensive two-day workshop focusing on 'Medical Terminology.' The training was ably conducted by Mr. Naser Alhawamdeh, Mr. Javed Ahmad, Mr. Salahud Din Abdul Rab, and Mr. Mohsin Raza Khan.

On April 15, 2017, Saudi German Hospital in Abha, Saudi Arabia played host to the inaugural Annual Forum on the English Language. Themed "Teaching English in the 21st Century," the forum was orchestrated under the oversight of Dr. Abdullah Al-Melhi, Dean, in a collaborative effort with Quality Education Holding Company and Oxford University Press. The forum’s focus centered on honing the professional development of language teachers, enhancing their competence in classroom management, activities, and overall language instruction.

On Monday, March 27, 2017, the Language Research Centre organized a thought-provoking seminar under the guidance of Dr. Ismail Alrefaai. The key speaker, Dr. Haseeb Ahmed, illuminated the significance of literature in the realm of English Language Teaching and Learning, with his presentation aptly titled, "What is Literature? Why Should We Study It?"

On Monday, March 13, 2017, esteemed educator Dr. Sheila Simpkins took center stage at a seminar organized by the Language Research Centre, held at the Al Samer Campus. The focal point of her illuminating presentation, titled "Bloom's Taxonomy: An Effective Tool for Language Teaching," was the updated version of Bloom's Taxonomy and its significant role in modern pedagogy.

Under the supervision of Dr. Abdullah Al-Melhi, Dean, and represented by Dr. Eyhab A. Bader Eddin, Lecturer, the Faculty of Languages and Translation (clt) collaborated with the Deanship of Community Service and Continuing Education to offer an intensive 18-hour course titled "Introduction to General Translation". Concluded on March 8, 2017, the course took place in the Al Qimma room, located on the 2nd floor of Building 4. Dr. Al-Melhi underscored the importance of bespoke, in-depth short courses in meeting market demands and enhancing knowledge acquisition.

Under the guidance of Dr. Abdullah Al-Melhi, Dean, the E-Learning Unit orchestrated a celebration ceremony for the successful "E-Learning Awareness Campaign". This festive occasion was held on March 7, 2017, at 11:00 am in Auditorium 10, Building B, and saw an impressive turnout of students.

Guided by Dr. Abdullah Al-Melhi, Dean, and represented by Dr. Abdulkhaleq Al Qahtani, Vice Dean of Higher Studies, the English Club held an informative orientation for all Level 1 students on March 5, 2017. The session was co-presented by Dr. Abdulkhaleq Al Qahtani, Dr. Mohammed Assiri, Vice Dean of Academic Development and Quality, Dr. Munassir Alhamami, Chair of the English Department, Dr. Basim Kanaan, Academic Advisor, and Hassan Asiri, Director of Student Activities.
