ENG 015 iPad Exam

The English Language Center (ELC) of the Faculty of Languages and Translation (clt) introduced the use of iPads for conducting exams, marking the beginning of the clt's focus on integrating technology in education. The iPad exams were successfully conducted for over 200 students in Auditoriums 8 and 9.

The instructors of ENG 015 course showed great enthusiasm in collaborating with the E-Learning Department to implement and assess the effectiveness of using iPads for exams. This initiative aimed to explore the benefits and potential of technology-enhanced assessment methods.

English Club Football Championship

Under the supervision of Dr. Abdullah Al-Melhi, Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Translation, the English Club organized a Football Championship at Al Rabwah field, located behind Asir Central Hospital. The event witnessed a lively atmosphere with the participation of hundreds of students and several faculty members, including Dr. Yahya Asiri.

TOEFL Training

The English Club organized an English Hour seminar facilitated by Language Instructor, Hassan Costello. The seminar was titled "The 60 TOEFL Structure and Written Expression Skills in 60 Minutes" and focused on various aspects of the TOEFL examination.

During the training session, Costello covered essential test-taking strategies, provided a quick review of practice tests, shared tips for improving Academic English, and conducted an in-depth session on the Structure and Written Expression section of the TOEFL exam.

Levels 3 and 4 Spelling Bee

The spelling bee for English major students from levels 3 and 4 was held on Tuesday, November 10th. Although the initial turnout was smaller compared to the previous spelling bee for levels 1 and 2, the number of participants gradually grew and remained consistent throughout the event.

Dr. Abdullah Al-Melhi, the Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Translation, inaugurated the event with a speech emphasizing the importance of improving English spelling skills, setting the tone for the competition.

Social Presence of Saudi EFL Learners

On Monday, November 16, 2015, Dr. Ali Alamir, the Vice Dean, delivered a presentation titled "Saudi EFL Students' Perceptions toward the Online Interactions of their Peers and Instructors." The focus of Dr. Alamir's presentation was to examine how Saudi students perceive and evaluate the online interactions of their peers and instructors in order to enhance their second language (L2) learning in online educational discussion forums.

Spelling Bee

The Spelling Bee competition for English major students from levels one and two took place on Tuesday, November 3rd, in Auditorium 5. The event attracted a large audience, with the auditorium nearly filled to capacity. Around 30 students participated in the first round, and as the competition progressed, contestants were eliminated until only three remained. The words used in the competition were chosen from a predetermined list of 275 words, ranging from one-syllable to three-syllable words, with increasing difficulty in each round.

English Club Commences New Activities Room

The inauguration ceremony for the new English Club Headquarters located in room A/3/35 was held under the patronage of Dr. Abdullah Al-Melhi, the Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Translation. The event was attended by Dr. Nasir Qemishan, the Vice Dean for Student Activities, and Mr. Yasir Salimy, the Director of Student Clubs. Mr. Ibrahim Alasmari, the Director of Student Activities, delivered an opening speech expressing his congratulations and acknowledging the positive direction of the faculty. Mr.
