Implementing the Quality Matters Rubric in E-Courses

On January 25, 2016, Mr. Mohsin Raza Khan, E-Learning Supervisor, conducted a workshop on the application of the QM rubric in E-courses. The workshop was initiated by Dr. Fahad Otaif, Vice Dean for Academic Development and Quality, who welcomed all participants and emphasized the ongoing significance of the Faculty of Languages and Translation as a leader in QM E-course implementation. The workshop was also attended by Vice Dean Dr. Ali Alamir and Dean Dr. Abdullah Al-Melhi, who highlighted the crucial role of the QM rubric in E-course design.

Revolutionizing Midterm Exams: Faculty of Languages and Translation Implements IELTS Online Assessment

In a groundbreaking initiative, the Faculty of Languages and Translation organized a computer-based test (CBT) for the 2nd Midterm Exam in the International Test Preparation (ITP) Course. Spearheaded by Hassan Costello and Matthew Paul, the CBT marked the introduction of the IELTS Online Assessment in the course, revolutionizing the way students are evaluated.

Effective Online Teaching

The Language Research Center organized a seminar on Effective Online Teaching, presented by Mohammad Siraj. The objective of the seminar was to develop a skilled workforce of online teachers. During his presentation, Mr. Siraj provided an overview of the online course he had designed for general English courses. He highlighted the accessibility of the course videos, which could be accessed from anywhere in the Kingdom. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of adhering to rubrics when designing an online course and demonstrated how his course aligned with the rubrics.

Unveiling the Semantic Challenges: Exploring Quranic Translation with Ms. Najlaa Al Asbali


Ms. Najlaa Abdulrahman Al Asbali, a 3rd-level MA student in the Translation Program, delivered a presentation on the topic of "An Investigation into Some Semantic Problems Inherent in the Translation of the Holy Quran." ENG 015 iPad Exam

The English Language Center (ELC) of the Faculty of Languages and Translation (clt) introduced the use of iPads for conducting exams, marking the beginning of the clt's focus on integrating technology in education. The iPad exams were successfully conducted for over 200 students in Auditoriums 8 and 9.

The instructors of ENG 015 course showed great enthusiasm in collaborating with the E-Learning Department to implement and assess the effectiveness of using iPads for exams. This initiative aimed to explore the benefits and potential of technology-enhanced assessment methods.
