On a recent Wednesday, the English Club hosted its fourth lecture for the Spring semester, featuring Assistant Professor Dawood Mahdi from the Faculty of Languages and Translation (clt). Besides his professorial role, Dr. Mahdi is also the Head of the Academic Guidance and Counseling Unit. His lecture, which drew a considerable crowd, centered on the nuanced art and science of translation.
On February 19, 2019, the Faculty of Languages and Translation (clt) hosted a seminar called 'Translator's Message'. Coordinated by the Language Research Center, the seminar was conducted by Hanan Saeed Al-Shahrani and Maryam Faisal Al-Shamrani. Both presenters, currently pursuing their Master's degrees, volunteer for the program also known as 'Translator's Message'. The objective of this seminar was to familiarize the clt community with the goals and activities of this group.
The Women's English Club of the Faculty of Languages and Translation, in conjunction with the Deanship of Student Affairs, hosted an event titled 'Games Fair' on Monday, February 18, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The event was held in Building C and was inaugurated by Assistant Dean Dr. Suaad Al-Qahtani, Department Supervisor Mrs. Safia, and English Club Head Mrs. Maram with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting.
The students of the Faculty of Languages and Translation attended a seminar organized by the Intellectual Awareness Unit on Tuesday, 7/6/1440 at the Faculty of Islamic Legislation. The seminar was presented by Dr. Halima Alwade'i who talked about the importance of appreciating the blessings of Allah. 'Allah has bestowed countless blessings upon us. He has endowed us with many gifts, and He has also subjected everything in the universe for us', Dr. Alwade'i said.
The Scientific Research Committee at the Faculty of Languages and Translation hosted a captivating seminar on interdisciplinary research on February 6, 2019. Presented by Dr. Barbara Rumbinas, an associate professor specializing in English Language, American Literature, History, and Culture, the seminar was aptly titled 'Mining for Gold in Interdisciplinary Research: A Whole Greater Than the Sum of Its Parts.'
The Women's English Club of the Faculty of Languages and Translation, in collaboration with the Deanship of Student Affairs, organized a workshop titled 'Time Management Is the Key to Success' on February 11th. The workshop was skillfully prepared and delivered by Mrs. Maram Almalki.
On February 19th, the English Club organized a student-centric workshop featuring guest speaker Mohammed Al Fuad, who shared insights on the topic 'Becoming an Exceptional Student'. At the very beginning, Al Fuad acknowledged the privilege of studying at King Khalid University, spurring students to seize this opportunity and pursue their dreams relentlessly.
On Wednesday, January 30th, the Women's English Club of the Faculty of Languages and Translation, in association with the Deanship of Student Affairs, orchestrated a program titled 'Winter Picnic'. Held in the indoor hall of building C from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., the event offered attendees a blend of educational discussion and leisure activities.
On February 13, 2019, a seminar was held by the Language Research Center of King Khalid University, where Dr. Hasan Jaashan introduced his latest work on Stylistics. Commencing his presentation, Dr. Jaashan guided the audience through the content of his book.
On February 12th, the English Club convened once again for the 'Linguistics Hour' in the Language Enhancement Program (LEP) room at the main campus. This ongoing initiative aims to identify challenges in English language learning, discuss innovative methods to enhance English language education, and explore practical applications of English in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
