On the eve of the final examinations, the administration of the Faculty of Languages and Translation convened a critical meeting with faculty members. Held in the conference room of the College of Education on Sunday, 24th of December 2017, this gathering aimed to synchronize efforts for the impending examination period.
The Second Annual Admissions Exhibition at King Khalid University served as a strategic stepping stone for prospective students transitioning from high school to college life. From their first steps on the campus, students were introduced to the dynamic environment and distinct values of the Faculty of Languages and Translation (clt).
With a firm belief in the power of gratitude, the English Club recently hosted "The Gratitude Event", an occasion designed to foster and strengthen an elevated sense of appreciation for the blessings in our lives. This program served to remind all attendees of the richness and abundance surrounding us daily.
Fostering strong ties with both government and private educational institutions, the Faculty of Languages and Translation (clt) at our female campus recently welcomed a delegation from Al-Dhikr High School. This delegation consisted of 20 senior students and three teachers. The visit began with an informative orientation hosted by the English Club, which offered a detailed overview of the faculty and the English program.
On December 6, 2017, the Language Research Center hosted a seminar featuring a notable presentation by Dr. Emad Al-Tamari, titled "Linguistics in Aid of Teachers of English". His talk revolved around the concept that enhancing and refining students’ linguistic competence can result in improved linguistic performance.
At the Faculty of Languages and Translation (clt) at King Khalid University, we recognize the significance of the process students undertake when choosing their university – a process we believe should be as fulfilling as the eventual decision itself. On December 4th, we had the pleasure of hosting a group of eager students from Al-Dhikr High School. The visit provided these students an opportunity to explore the myriad of academic opportunities offered by the University, aiding them in their quest to find the perfect fit.
The Unit of Academic Development and Quality at the Faculty of Languages and Translation hosted a training session on December 3, 2017, featuring a procedural presentation by Dr. Mohammad Shiblee of the College of Engineering. Dr. Shiblee's presentation primarily centered around the use of the Jadeer software for uploading pertinent quality documents.
The Faculty of Languages and Translation (clt) on the Female Campus recently celebrated the conclusion of their reading challenge activities. The challenge kicked off with a visit to King Khalid University's 14th Book and Information Fair, followed by the launch of the reading competition which attracted a large number of participants.
On November 29, 2017, the Language Research Center hosted a seminar featuring a presentation by MA students Shaymaa' Hasan Abdullah and Fayzah Nasser Mohaya. Titled 'Translation of Metaphor,' their talk was based on research conducted under the supervision of Dr. Eyhab A. Bader Eddin. The discussion focused on the distinct strategies in metaphor translation, specifically deliberating on whether to adopt a literal or a free translation approach.
On November 27, 2017, Dr. Mahmoud Radwan delivered an engaging seminar presentation for the English Club at King Khalid University. The focus of his discourse was the vital role of literature and language, aptly titled "Speculations on Literature."
Dr. Radwan aimed to illuminate the profound significance of literature in the formation of cultures, nations, language development, and, specifically, language learning. His presentation encompassed an in-depth exploration of literary genres, elements, periods, and featured examples from both English and Arabic literary works.
