The Language Research Center organized a seminar on November 22, 2017, featuring a presentation titled "'Under the Kingdom's Vision 2030, KKU Can Help Bring the Asir Region's Education and Admission Process to International Standards in 3-5 Years'" by Mr. Rizwan Ghani.

The objective of Mr. Rizwan Ghani's presentation was to familiarize the participants with various approaches employed by countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe, and Asia to align the education and admissions system of the Asir region with international standards.

During the presentation, Mr. Rizwan outlined the significance of national and international education assessment programs, global indicators of education systems, accelerated education programs, entry and admission tests, international testing centers (ITCs), and admission processes in enhancing education standards. It was emphasized that these measures are not language-specific.

Mr. Rizwan provided detailed information about programs like the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) in the United States and the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Notably, PISA is available in 90 languages, including Arabic.

The role of entry and admission tests was highlighted, with a suggestion to incorporate critical thinking and reasoning skills (CARS). The presentation also discussed America's STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) policy and its impact on improving education in these fields. The establishment of ITCs was emphasized as a means to enhance education standards.

Mr. Rizwan concluded the presentation by sharing positive outcomes achieved through these programs and recommended that King Khalid University plays an active role in improving the education system in the Asir region, particularly in schools.

The seminar was attended by the King Abdullah Road girls' campus online, promoting broader participation and engagement.

The interactive nature of the presentation contributed to its overall success. To view Mr. Rizwan Ghani's presentation, please click here.
