Spring 2021 Orientation Day
On January 26, 2021, the Faculty of Languages and Translation (clt) at King Khalid University hosted an engaging orientation program for incoming students enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts in English program. The session, conducted with strict adherence to COVID-19 social distancing guidelines, aimed to provide students with essential information about their new academic journey.
Dean Abdullah Al-Melhi warmly welcomed the new batch of students, emphasizing that the orientation was more than a customary assembly. It was carefully planned to equip students with the knowledge and strategies necessary to navigate potential challenges while focusing on their academic success. Dean Al-Melhi also provided insightful tips and critical guidelines about the English program.
Following the Dean's remarks, Dr. Yahya Asiri, Vice Dean of Academic Affairs, offered a detailed overview of the learning objectives of the Bachelor of Arts in English program. He further discussed student assessment methods, the use of the Blackboard learning management system, and the performance expectations for university progression.
Echoing Vice Dean Asiri's advice, Dr. Munassir Alhamami, the English Department Chair, acquainted the students with university policies and regulations. This was followed by Dr. Dawood Mahdi, the Academic Advisor, who encouraged students to fully utilize campus resources to bolster their academic success.
Wrapping up the session, Mohsin Raza Khan, the E-Learning Unit Supervisor, provided a hands-on tutorial on using Blackboard. He covered topics including logging in, uploading assignments, utilizing the discussion forum, and taking exams. He further assured students that the Blackboard Student Support team would be readily available throughout the semester to provide necessary assistance.
The Faculty of Languages and Translation is committed to offering comprehensive orientation programs for new students. These initiatives aim to foster a deep understanding of the various services and facilities available to students, setting them up for success in their academic pursuits.
