The Faculty of Languages and Translation (clt) was recently awarded a certificate of appreciation by the Deanship of E-Learning for their vital support in delivering the successful eLearning Practitioner Course. Dr. Abdullah Al-Melhi, Dean of clt, and Dr. Yahya Asiri, Vice Dean, graciously accepted the certificate.

The eLearning Practitioner Course, an initiative aimed at faculty members across the university, was conducted from October 25, 2017, to November 9, 2017. The course was ably delivered by the clt E-Learning Supervisor, Mohsin Raza Khan.

This innovative program underscored the importance of instructional design training and enriching the learning environment for students – a fact recognized by all colleges across the university. The course was an integral part of the university's strategy to equip faculty members with essential knowledge and skills to capitalize on one of the fastest-growing sectors in education, and in turn, create engaging and captivating learning experiences for students.

The course centered on four key objectives aimed at enhancing student learning and engagement, fostering interaction, and most importantly, ensuring quality learning. Participants in the program were trained to:

  • Create content items to present diverse learning activities to enhance student learning.
  • Deliver authentic assessments to evaluate student knowledge in various meaningful ways.
  • Utilize Blackboard communication tools to promote interactions between the student and instructor, the student and course content, and among the students themselves.
  • Effectively utilize Blackboard Collaborate™ tools to enhance student engagement by providing a platform for knowledge sharing and creation.

The course was deemed a resounding success and will continue to be conducted periodically as part of the developmental projects of the Tamkeen team. Special acknowledgment was given to Mohammed Jarallah, Training Manager, and Dr. Khaled M. Mohanna, E-Learning Team Manager, for their unwavering and comprehensive support throughout the course.

In recognition of his commendable efforts, Mohsin Raza Khan was also presented with a certificate of appreciation by the Deanship of E-Learning. The Faculty of Languages and Translation remains committed to fostering educational innovation in line with the goals and objectives of the university.
