Recognizing the pivotal role of Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools in streamlining translation processes and improving text accuracy, the College of Languages and Translation Club, in partnership with the Deanship of Student Affairs for Female Students, hosted a workshop titled "CAT Tools in Translation." The event was part of the "English Without Borders" initiative.

On Sunday, October 27, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Assistant Professor Dr. Amal Metwally led the workshop at the college theater. Dr. Metwally provided an in-depth exploration of translation memories, their significance, automatic search dictionaries, alignment features, and text segmentation. She emphasized how these tools enhance translation quality and ensure consistency in vocabulary usage. Additionally, she discussed neural machine translation and the incorporation of artificial intelligence in the latest CAT tool versions.

The workshop saw active participation from a large number of female students, who engaged in hands-on applications of CAT tools. The event also featured students sharing their experiences in the field of translation, competitive contests for the best written translations, and incentive prizes.

The successful turnout and enthusiastic involvement highlighted the growing interest among students in leveraging technology to advance their translation skills.
