The Faculty of Languages and Translation's Language Research Center celebrated academic excellence and intellectual contributions at its Certificate Award Ceremony on April 25, 2016. The event honored the presenters who contributed to the enriching dialogues held during the Center's fortnightly seminars throughout the academic year 1436-37.

The esteemed speakers from the first semester, whose insightful papers spanned various educational and linguistic themes, were recognized with certificates of appreciation. The honorees included:

  • Mr. Mohsin Raza, who provided a compelling discussion on "E-Course Design with Special Reference to Quality Matters Rubric"
  • Mr. Eyhab Bader Eddin, whose presentation titled "Pragmatic Equivalents in Translation" offered a deep dive into the nuances of language translation
  • Dr. Ali Alamir, who presented his fascinating research study, "Social Presence of Saudi EFL Students during their Online Interactions in Forums"
  • Ms. Najlaa A. Al Asbali, who shared insights from her project, "An Investigation into Some Semantic Problems Inherent in the Translation of the Holy Quran"
  • Mr. Mohammad Siraj, who shared practical wisdom on "Effective Online Teaching"
  • Dr. Nurul Islam, who delivered two enlightening presentations, "World Englishes" and "How to Avoid Plagiarism"

In the second semester, five more experts shared their knowledge and received certificates in recognition of their efforts. These included:

  • Mr. Salahud Din Abdul Rab, who enlightened the audience on "NLP and Speed Language Learning"
  • Dr. Fahad Otaif, who presented his research on "Metaphorical Framing of Media Discourse and the Representation of the Other"
  • Mr. Erich Beer, who discussed the "English-teaching-related Application of Microsoft Excel, Blackboard, and WhatsApp"
  • Dr. Nisar Ahmed Koka, who presented on "Cross-cultural Communication and Subsequent Diffusion of Loanwords: A case of Arabic-Kashmiri Linguistic Borrowing"
  • Dr. Mohammad Osman, who explored "Short Stories – a Source of Learning English as a Foreign Language (EFL) for Beginners."

The ceremony not only highlighted the achievements of these accomplished individuals but also celebrated the success of the academic year. It served as an opportunity for the Faculty of Languages and Translation to acknowledge the diverse and impactful activities carried out by the Language Research Center throughout the semesters.
