🌍 Community Outreach Translation Project 🌍

As part of the community outreach program under the aegis of the Bachelor of Arts in English program, spearheaded by Dean Abdullah Al-Melhi, we collaborated with the university's Media Center to translate a portion of the Arabian Highland Theme in the Aseer Region Strategic Plan. The Strategic Plan is under the supervision of the Aseer Development Authority (ASDA). The translated content, made available in seven languages including Afrikaans, Bengali, French, Hindi, Pashto, Romanian, and Urdu, was shared in the form of short videos on YouTube and Twitter.

Under the auspices of the College of Languages and Translation, we undertook a community outreach initiative, led by our esteemed Dean Abdullah Al-Melhi. This effort entailed collaborating with our university's Media Center to translate selected content from the Arabian Highland Theme, part of the Aseer Region Strategic Plan, which falls under the stewardship of the Aseer Development Authority (ASDA).

The translated material was made accessible in a suite of seven languages—Afrikaans, Bengali, French, Hindi, Pashto, Romanian, and Urdu. It was subsequently shared in the form of succinct video snippets on YouTube and Twitter.

These multilingual translations spread information about the launch of the Arabian Highland development strategy in the Aseer region by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who serves as the Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Council of Economic and Development Affairs. The core objective of the strategy—transforming the region into a year-round global hotspot with a $50 billion SAR investment—was made clear in these videos.

Dean Abdullah Al-Melhi expressed his admiration for the translated works released in October 2021, citing them as a testament to the College of Languages and Translation's commitment to using their linguistic and translation expertise for community benefit, in line with the faculty's objectives.

In recent updates, the Community Service Partnership Plan (CSPP) and the Employer Advisory Board (EAB) underwent revisions. These were approved at a Department Council meeting on November 2, 2021. The revised CSPP emphasizes a stronger alignment with the faculty's mission statement, the updated EAB, and cites the Aseer Development Authority and Vision 2030 as a foundation for expanding the scope of our community service partnership endeavors.
