The Scientific Research Committee of the Faculty of Languages and Translation at King Khalid University's Female Campus recently orchestrated a workshop designed to enhance academic writing skills. The event, aptly titled 'Languages of the Academics: How to Write for Academic Purposes?', was expertly delivered by Ms. Anjum Mishu. The audience consisted of the committee's coordinator, Level Eight students, and a cohort of graduate students.

The Faculty of Languages and Translation at King Khalid University, in coordination with Dr. Amal Metwally, the Intellectual Awareness Unit Coordinator, hosted a special workshop on October 17, 2019. Attended by a vibrant cohort of students from the female section, the workshop aimed to emphasize the significance of appreciating one's home country and nurturing a sense of belongingness.

On October 14, 2019, the Scientific Research Committee hosted its inaugural seminar of the semester, captivatingly titled "Comparison of Feminist Power in Anne Bradstreet and Virginia Woolf's Works." The insightful presentation was expertly delivered by Ms. Maram Al-Malki.

Under the patronage of Assistant Dean, Dr. Salma Alqahtani, the Unit of Advising and Counseling at the female campus observed World Mental Health Day and launched a fabulous exhibition, which began on October 6, 2019, and ended on October 10, 2019.

The Unit organized a rich program to raise students' awareness of mental health in general and 'suicide prevention' in particular. The students shared their amazing arts and participated in a competition for the best three works of art. The exhibition welcomed all mediums of art.

On October 10, 2019, the English Club organized an enriching camping trip to Al-Souda, infusing the adventure with educational and community-focused aspects. The enthusiastic members embarked on an invigorating 10-kilometer trek into the mountains, followed by a cozy evening under the stars, roasting marshmallows and sharing anecdotes from their academic journey. Faisal Al-Fadhil, the Director of the English Club, not only supervised the event but also provided a safety net by keeping his 4x4 pickup ready for support and potential emergency services.

On Saturday, October 12, 2019, Vice Dean of Academic Development and Quality, Dr. Abdulrahman Almosa, spearheaded a training workshop on Self-Evaluation Scales (SES) and Self-Study Report (SSR). Co-sponsored by the Deanship of Academic Development and Quality, the event was well-attended by various members of the accreditation committee and associated sub-committees. It is noteworthy that both male and female team members actively participated in this crucial event held at the main campus.

On October 9, 2019, the Faculty of Languages and Translation (clt) honored Mr. Sayed Mohammed Abdul Karim and Dr. Hassan Mahill for their exceptional contributions to the department's digital communication initiatives. Dean Abdullah Al-Melhi bestowed upon each a certificate of recognition, expressing gratitude for their efforts in maintaining clt's strong digital media presence. On October 7, 2019, Hassan Costello led an enlightening workshop titled 'Introduction to Building Quality Online Courses'. Organized jointly by the E-Learning Unit at the Faculty of Languages and Translation (clt) and the Deanship of E-Learning, the workshop initially targeted English teachers at the clt. However, under the supervision of Dr. Abdulrahman Almosa, Vice Dean of Academic Development and Quality, and the guidance of E-Learning Unit Supervisor, Mohsin Khan, it was decided that the material's applicability stretched beyond a single faculty.

On October 3, 2019, the English Club and the Advising and Guidance Unit collaborated to host the much-anticipated Fall 2019 Spelling Bee Competition. The event attracted nearly two dozen eager participants from various academic levels, all keen to test their spelling prowess under the watchful eye of Academic Guidance Counselor, Dr. Dawood Mahdi. The event boasted cash prizes courtesy of Jarir Bookstore, with gift certificates totaling 500 Saudi Riyals being awarded to the top three contestants.

On October 2, 2019, the Language Research Center hosted a workshop conducted by Mohammad Adil, entitled 'Practising Professionalism in EFL Teaching'. The workshop aimed to enrich participants' understanding of effective classroom strategies and test administration practices through a combination of instructional sessions and interactive brainstorming tasks.

The workshop initiated with an engaging warm-up task, providing participants with an opportunity to reflect on their existing knowledge of good classroom practices, thus setting the stage for further learning.
