On September 3, 2020, an orientation program was conducted for first-year students joining the Bachelor of Arts in English program at the Faculty of Languages and Translation. Adhering to COVID-19 social distancing protocols, the gathering was structured to provide essential information in a small group discussion format. Numerous members from the faculty's leadership team and functional units graced the occasion to acquaint the newcomers with the curriculum, as well as the culture fostered on campus.

As part of King Khalid University's ongoing awareness campaigns to stem the tide of COVID-19 and under the supervision of Dean Abdullah Al-Melhi, the Faculty of Languages ​​and Translation's Vice Dean for Academic Development and Quality, Dr. Abdulrahman Almosa, facilitated the translation of COVID-19 awareness videos in 6 different languages ​​in cooperation with the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Command and Control Center at Asir’s General Directorate of Health Affairs led by Asir Gov.

Under the guidance of Dean Abdullah Al-Melhi, the Faculty of Languages and Translation is proud to announce the launch of its inaugural Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) program, set to begin in the fall of 2020.

The new degree program will focus on applied linguistics and will be supervised by the English Department. The Ministry of Education granted approval for this program, aligning it with the standards set by the National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Assessment (NCAAA) and enabling enrollment to commence in the fall term.

On May 4, 2020, the Guidance and Counselling Unit, in collaboration with the English Club, held an online webinar titled 'Staying Home & Time Management,' presented by Dr. Karem Abdelatif Ahmed. Drawing nearly 50 participants, the webinar aimed to demonstrate how to effectively control and optimize time for productivity during these challenging times, keeping in mind life balance and well-being.

On March 10, 2020, we informed about a university-wide webinar conducted by E-Learning Unit Supervisor, Mohsin Khan, titled 'Transformation to Full E-Learning.' This webinar also included a specially tailored session for the English Language Center on March 11, 2020. The purpose was to familiarize faculty members with useful content and tools within Blackboard, essential for conducting effective online classes. Due to inquiries about the logistics of virtual learning from students, a practical session was held on March 14, 2020, where Mr.

On March 10, 2020, a university-wide workshop, titled 'Transformation to Full E-Learning,' was conducted by the E-Learning Unit Supervisor, Mohsin Khan. The Deanship of E-Learning's Training Manager, Mohammed Jarallah, supervised the workshop. Aimed to equip faculty members, both seasoned and novice users, with key knowledge on creating and posting documents, assignments, quizzes, tests, videos, and engaging in discussion boards, the workshop was a grand success, with nearly 200 attendees.

The Women's Academic Development and Quality Committee, committed to enhancing the quality of teaching, organized a workshop on "Usefulness and Learnability in Teaching Vocabulary to ESL/EFL Students" on Monday, February 24, 2020. Conducted by Ms. Shanjida Halim, Ms. Tanzina Halim, and Dr. Rizwana Wahid, this workshop was specifically designed for new educators, graduate students, and faculty members of the Bachelor of Arts in English program who have yet to teach courses such as ENG 214 Vocabulary Building 1 and ENG 219 Vocabulary Building 2.

The Women's Scientific Research Committee hosted an informative seminar on March 2, 2020, focusing on the critical role of scientific research in program accreditation. The seminar was facilitated by Dr. Eman Alzaanin, Supervisor of the Academic Development and Quality Unit, who delved into the importance of research in maintaining the rigorous standards expected in higher education.

On March 2, 2020, the Women's Scientific Research Committee of the Bachelor of Arts in English program hosted the third session in the Academic Writing Workshop series. The workshop was led by Dr. Nada Alqarni, the Supervisor of the Department of English.

On March 3, 2020, Hassan Costello spearheaded an enlightening workshop, 'Resume and Cover Letter Essentials,' meticulously crafted under the supervision of Dr. Abdulrahman Almosa, Vice Dean for Academic Development & Quality. This event, specifically tailored for senior students and alumni of the Bachelor of Arts in English program, was aimed at furnishing attendees with the tools required to present their skills and qualifications in a compelling manner to potential employers.
