The Faculty of Languages and Translation recently introduced a computer-based test (CBT) for the 1st Midterm Exam in the International Test Preparation (ITP) Course. This marked a significant milestone as it was the first time such a test format was implemented for the ITP Course. Matthew Paul and Hassan Costello played integral roles in the development, administration, and supervision of the CBT.

The introduction of the CBT format brought about several benefits for the ITP Midterm Exam, including specific tasks in the listening and reading sections that allowed candidates to demonstrate their comprehension skills. Additionally, candidates were able to view their unofficial scores immediately on the screen (excluding essays), and individual headphones with volume control were provided for a personalized testing experience. The use of computer-equipped testing stations also enhanced the comfort and convenience for the test-takers, while ensuring improved test security.

The instructors of the ITP Course expressed their heartfelt appreciation to the Managing Administration of the Faculty of Languages and Translation for their visionary approach and unwavering support. They also extended their gratitude to the E-Learning Department for their continuous assistance and support in implementing the CBT.
