On January 29, 2019, the Faculty of Languages & Translation (clt) at King Khalid University held a dual event: a freshman orientation and a student awards ceremony. The event was expertly managed by Abdulaziz Dahlan, President of the English Club, under the supervision of Faisal Alfadhil, the Student Activities Director. The proceedings were overseen by Dr. Abdullah Al-Melhi, the Dean of clt.

To mark the inception of student activity programs, Dean Al-Melhi inaugurated the event with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, a symbolic gesture emphasizing the significance of student activities and welcoming incoming freshmen to their new academic environment.

The primary goal of the freshman orientation was to smoothen the transition from high school to university life for new students. Dean Al-Melhi introduced various faculty and staff members who would support the students during their academic journey. Dr. Dawood Mahdi, the Academic Counselor, further elaborated on faculty support and shared insights into what students can expect from their educators and the university's administration.

Concluding the orientation, Dean Al-Melhi encouraged students, stating, "You are all embarking on a remarkable journey. Each of you will experience achievements and setbacks, joy and frustration. But by the time you graduate, you will have learned so much about your chosen field and about life itself. We, in the department, hope that you will remember your time at King Khalid University as one of the most valuable experiences in your life."

The event also included an awards ceremony conducted by Dean Al-Melhi, Vice Dean Dr. Yahya Asiri, Chairman Dr. Munassir Alhamami, and Counselor Mahdi. This semester, clt recognized students who achieved an impressive grade point average at or above 4.75.

Following the awards presentation, the clt Registrar, Nasser Hawamdeh, detailed various registration policies and procedures. This included guidance on registering, changing classes, and adding or dropping courses during the semester, crucial information, particularly for new students.

Director Alfadhil also encouraged all students to participate in the English Club, an extracurricular platform to improve English language skills in a relaxed and collaborative environment. "The English Club can be a valuable and enjoyable means of improving your language skills while having fun. I encourage you to join the English Club at your earliest convenience," he said.

The event concluded with a reception, where students, both freshmen and seniors, expressed their enthusiasm for their studies within the clt.
