On April 25, 2018, the Department of English at the Faculty of Languages and Translation held a farewell ceremony in recognition of departing faculty members.

Dr. Abdullah Al-Melhi, Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Translation, inaugurated the event with a welcoming address. While acknowledging the considerable contributions made by the departing faculty, he highlighted their integrity and commitment to the college. He conveyed his mixed feelings about the farewell, expressing sadness at their departure but simultaneously delight in their impending reunions with their families. Dr. Al-Melhi underscored the importance of embracing change as an opportunity for growth, while reassuring those leaving that their profound impact on the college would always be remembered.

Representing the departing faculty, Mr. Muhammad Saiful Islam shared heartfelt recollections of his decade-long teaching experience at the Faculty of Languages and Translation. He warmly acknowledged the strong teacher-student rapport fostered at King Khalid University and praised his colleagues — both Saudi and international — for their warm camaraderie and supportive environment. “Our Saudi faculty members here are amazing hosts, very considerate, very kind. I always felt that I was staying in my own country,” Mr. Islam stated, expressing gratitude for the privilege to teach at the college.

The event culminated in an awards ceremony during which the departing faculty members were presented with certificates in honor of their contributions to the college. Among those recognized were Dr. Mohammed Amin Mekheimer, Dr. Muhammad Gulfraz Abbasi, Dr. Haseeb Ahmed Abdul Majeed, Dr. Manoj Kumar Yadav, Mr. Muhammad Saiful Islam, Mr. Mohammad Sherajul Islam, Mr. Weatherford Braden Thomson, Mr. Shamsur Rab Khan, Mr. Rehan Khan, Mr. Md Shahrear Talukder, Mr. Matthew Paul, and Mr. Gavin Phillip Louch.
