The Scientific Research Committee of the Faculty of Languages and Translation hosted an informative seminar titled "Translation is the Art of Failure" on Monday, April 2, 2018. The seminar catered to level seven and eight students, along with postgraduate scholars, with the presentations being led by Ms. Sarah Alateeg and Ms. Safia Asiri.

Ms. Asiri opened the seminar by dispelling some of the common myths about translation. Her talk emphasized the significant role students can play in the expansive field of translation. She provided attendees with a plethora of valuable resources, directing them towards websites and academic journals specializing in translation studies. Ms. Asiri further discussed international certification programs and awards in the field of translation, shedding light on potential career-enhancing opportunities.

In the second segment of the event, Ms. Sarah Alateeg shared her personal journey navigating the world of translation as a researcher, interpreter, and freelance translator. Drawing on her wealth of experience, Ms. Alateeg encouraged students to bear in mind that "their teachers are their target text readers," emphasizing the importance of adhering to their instructors' guidelines and techniques.

The seminar provided an enriching experience for students, enabling them to delve deeper into the complex art of translation and explore various avenues for their potential involvement in the industry.
