clt Students Leap Into Language at Swansea University
Seven exceptional students from the Faculty of Languages and Translation (clt) at King Khalid University recently had the opportunity to take part in an intensive eight-week summer English program at Swansea University in Wales, UK. These candidates emerged successful from a rigorous selection process involving a competitive examination and a meticulous review by a selection committee.
Swansea University, crowned as the University of the Year in the 2019 What Uni Student Choice Awards, holds a stellar reputation in the UK.
The innovative language program is a result of the vision of King Khalid University Rector, Prof. Falleh Al-Solamy, an alumnus of Swansea University with a Ph.D. in mathematics. Rector Al-Solamy played a significant role in establishing a student exchange agreement with his former university.
The clt Dean, Dr. Abdullah Al-Melhi, was thrilled to provide this extraordinary immersive language learning opportunity to high-achieving students. "I take immense pride in the students who represented King Khalid University and the Kingdom at Swansea," said Dr. Al-Melhi. "We anticipate these students will go on to assume leadership roles in their respective fields."
Dr. Yahya Asiri, the Vice Dean of Academic Affairs, was instrumental in transforming the summer English program into reality in 2019. He expressed satisfaction at the excellent learning experience the students had and the mutual benefits accrued from the cultural exchange during their UK visit.
Dr. Munassir Alhamami also shared his pleasure at the program's success. As the on-site supervisor throughout the program, he said, "The participants' performance was outstanding, and they deserve the highest accolades. Despite the program's intensity, they exemplified the values of the Faculty of Languages and Translation and King Khalid University."
The Swansea University partnership team were equally pleased with this maiden effort, expressing their appreciation for our students and their anticipation for future exchanges. King Khalid University also plans to host students from Swansea soon.
