On October 27, 2021, the Faculty of Languages and Translation's Alumni Unit organized a webinar, which saw Dr. Abdulrahman Almosa, Vice Dean for Academic Development & Quality, address a gathering of 60 participants. Titled "Future Job Prospects for English Graduates," the webinar emphasized the significance of durable skills and was designed to equip students and alumni of the Bachelor of Arts in English program with valuable insights to aid their professional growth, aligned with anticipated learning outcomes and the evolving labor market landscape.

Dr. Almosa initiated the session by discussing ten key competencies or durable skills crucial for a successful career: leadership, character, collaboration, communication, creativity, critical thinking, metacognition, mindfulness, growth mindset, and fortitude. "Volunteering is an effective way to cultivate these skills as it opens doors to both private and non-profit sectors. By organizing events, you can gain insights into project management while honing your leadership and sales abilities as you rally other volunteers to assist you," said Dr. Almosa. He also emphasized the emerging importance of a skills-based economy, noting the ongoing transition into the Fourth Industrial Revolution. While technical proficiency is valuable, Dr. Almosa underscored the criticality of soft skills, asserting, "The capacity to solve novel problems and work in teams is indispensable. You need to be comfortable with continuous learning to address unforeseen challenges."

Further, Dr. Almosa highlighted the Aseer Region Development Strategy, launched by HRH Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, aiming to foster sustainable growth conditions. "Our region is poised to become a year-round global destination, promising numerous job opportunities for students from the Bachelor of Arts in English program," he added.

It's noteworthy that Dr. Almosa brings a unique perspective to guide students on aligning their skills with the regional workforce demands, as evidenced by his recognition in October 2021. His Royal Highness Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, the Governor of Asir, honored him for his significant contributions to the region's strategic planning.

As part of its commitment to maintaining ties with its alumni and involving them in various events and activities, the Bachelor of Arts in English program at the Faculty of Languages and Translation invites interested individuals to view a recording of the event.
