clt Celebrates the 87th Saudi National Day
Under the guidance of Dean Dr. Abdullah Al-Melhi, the Faculty of Languages and Translation commemorated the 87th National Day of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in a grand ceremony. The event was held on September 27th, 2017, at Building B, Auditorium 5, where a riveting account of the Kingdom's history was presented to the attendees, which included students, faculty, and staff. Poetry recitals and a fresh student orientation program added a vibrant dimension to the celebration.
Coinciding with the Annual Orientation Program, the National Day celebration also offered an opportunity for new students to familiarize themselves with the various services available, the standards of academic integrity they are expected to uphold, and gain a glimpse into life at the University.
Dr. Abdullah Al-Melhi, in his address, emphasized the significance of the National Day celebration as a unifying event, encouraging participants to reflect upon the sacrifices of past generations that have paved the way for the prosperity and stability enjoyed today. He lauded the Custodians of Saudi Arabia from King Abdulaziz to King Salman, praising their relentless focus on the development of the Saudi citizen, the nation, and education. Dr. Al-Melhi also stressed that the central theme of the Faculty of Languages and Translation's Saudi National Day celebration is to 'invest in the students for a promising future'. He urged students to be proactive, to study diligently, and to take to heart the lessons from the orientation to navigate the challenges of their Freshman year successfully.
Echoing Dr. Al-Melhi's sentiments, Dr. Yahya Asiri, the Vice Dean, outlined the theme of the celebration and the Annual Orientation Program as an initiative to instill high values in students, preparing them to contribute to national development post-graduation. He also reiterated the importance of adhering to the 'Code of Conduct' and striving for academic excellence.
Chairman Dr. Munassir Alhamami guided students through the Faculty's website and social media channels, acquainting them with the available resources, including faculty contact information and study plans. He emphasized the shift from high school to university as a significant transition, requiring commitment and earnest efforts.
Dr. Basim Kanan, the Academic Advisor, discussed the potential challenges students might encounter during their academic journey. He also highlighted the different ways of reaching out to him or other faculty members. Director of Student Activities, Hassan Faya Asiri, encouraged students to participate in the English Club and its activities, urging them to stay focused on their academic objectives and avoid distractions.
The successful organization of this event owes much to the tireless work of the College Administrators: Muhammad, Al Gaees, Saleh Al Yami, Sultan Al Hasher, and members of the English Club: Ahmed Al-Otaibi, Haitham Hawi, Ali Saeed, and Hussam Al-Mashlwe, who all deserve heartfelt thanks.
