1. BAE Mission

The English Language Program aims to prepare skilled, culturally aware, and responsible professionals who excel in language, communication, and research. The program fosters creativity, critical thinking, and innovation, empowering students to apply their knowledge in diverse professional contexts. Through excellence in teaching, scholarly inquiry, and community engagement, it seeks to promote sustainable development and meaningful contributions to both local and global communities.

2. BAE Goals and Objectives

The Bachelor of Arts in English aims to

  1. Develop students' advanced proficiency in English language skills-listening, speaking, reading, and writing to ensure effective communication in academic, professional, and intercultural settings.
  2. Foster analytical, critical thinking, and research abilities that enable students to engage with linguistic, literary, and cultural issues creatively and academically.
  3. Cultivate awareness and appreciation of diverse cultures, promoting global citizenship, ethical responsibility, and effective cross-cultural understanding.
  4. Equip graduates with the professional competencies required for careers in education, translation, media, business, and public service sectors.
  5. Encourage lifelong learning, innovation, and community engagement to enable students to contribute positively to local and global development.
  6. Integrate technology and modern pedagogical approaches to enhance language learning, digital literacy, and professional readiness in an evolving global environment.

3. Program Learning Outcomes

Knowledge and Understanding
K1     Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of linguistic systems — including phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics — and explain how these systems function in English.
K2Explain theoretical and applied perspectives in English linguistics, including second-language acquisition, language teaching, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, and discourse studies.
K3Discuss historical, cultural, and literary developments in English literature and how they reflect and shape human experience across genres and periods.
K4Discuss how English social, cultural, and multilingual factors shape language use, variation, and change.
K5Describe current trends, digital tools, and research methodologies in English studies and evaluate their relevance to linguistic and literary inquiry.
Skills
S1Analyze and interpret linguistic and literary data critically, applying appropriate theoretical and methodological frameworks.
S2Design and conduct research projects, including collecting, analyzing, and synthesizing linguistic or literary data using qualitative, quantitative, and corpus-based methods.
