Wordfast

Our curriculum includes a practice of Wordfast translation tools, courtesy of Wordfast LLC and Yves Champollion.

This partnership agreement was initiated in January 2023. WordFast, a leading computer-assisted translation (CAT) tool, will provide our students with valuable resources and practical experience in professional translation technology. Specifically, WordFast will benefit our programs as follows:

  1. BA in English Program:
    • Introduce students to industry-standard translation software
    • Enhance technical writing and editing skills using CAT tools
  2. BA in Translation Program:
    • Provide hands-on experience with professional translation memory systems
    • Improve translation efficiency and consistency across projects
    • Prepare students for real-world translation workflows
  3. Master in Applied Linguistics:
    • Offer research opportunities in computer-aided translation and linguistic analysis
    • Support corpus-based studies and terminology management
  4. Master in TEFL:
    • Facilitate the creation and management of multilingual educational materials
    • Enhance understanding of translation technology in language teaching contexts
  5. Master in Translation:
    • Advanced training in professional translation tools and workflows
    • Develop skills in managing large-scale translation projects
    • Explore the integration of machine translation and post-editing processes
  6. PhD in Applied Linguistics:
    • Enable advanced research in translation technologies and their impact on language studies
    • Support large-scale translation projects and data analysis for dissertations
    • Investigate the intersection of applied linguistics and translation technology

This partnership will equip students across all programs at the College of Languages and Translation with cutting-edge skills in translation technology, enhancing their academic experience and career prospects in the rapidly evolving language industry.
