College of Languages and Translation
King Khalid University
Under the guidance of Dean Abdullah Al-Melhi, the College of Languages and Translation proudly announces the launch of its Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) program in Applied Linguistics, commencing in the fall of 2020.
This innovative degree program, supervised by the English Department, has received Ministry of Education approval. Meeting the rigorous standards established by the National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Assessment (NCAAA), enrollment will begin in the upcoming fall term.
Dr. Munassir Alhamami, Vice Dean for Higher Studies and Scientific Research, highlights the program's significance: "Our region hosts many talented language teachers and researchers who can enhance their qualifications through the Doctor of Philosophy in Applied Linguistics program. This advanced training will empower them to address practical language challenges within educational and professional institutions both locally and regionally."
The expansion of graduate programs at the College of Languages and Translation represents years of collaborative effort among numerous colleagues. While individually acknowledging every contributor is not possible, the faculty extends sincere appreciation to all who invested their time and expertise.
The Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics primarily targets recent graduates from master's programs in applied linguistics, licensed Ministry of Education English teachers holding a Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics or related fields, and exceptional international students with near-native proficiency in both Arabic and English.
