The study investigates the crucial role of multilingualism in the development of the global tourism sector. Utilizing a quantitative approach, primary data was collected from 101 employees in tourism companies through structured surveys administered via questionnaires and Google Forms. The analysis, conducted using IBM SPSS, focused on descriptive statistics and correlation analysis to explore the relationship between multilingualism and various aspects of tourism development, including tourist satisfaction, language policies, vocabulary quality, and sociolinguistic attitudes. The findings reveal strong positive correlations, indicating that multilingualism significantly enhances tourist experiences, fosters cross-cultural understanding, and drives economic growth within the tourism industry.
The research concludes that adopting multilingual practices, such as employing multilingual tour guides and developing translated content, is essential for attracting and retaining both national and international tourists. Effective language policies that prioritize multilingualism help mitigate communication barriers, promote cultural diversity, and increase customer satisfaction, thereby boosting the sector’s profitability and its contribution to the GDP. The study emphasizes the need for tourism companies to implement multilingual strategies to remain competitive in the global market and recommends further research incorporating qualitative data to provide a more comprehensive understanding of multilingualism's impact on tourism development. Despite its limitations, the research highlights the pivotal role of language diversity in fostering a successful and sustainable tourism industry.
