Frequently Asked Questions
1 Can courses from my previous major be transferred or credited to my new program?
To determine if courses from your previous major can be equated or credited to your new program, consult the head of your new department. They will assess your previous coursework and advise you on which courses, if any, can be transferred or credited toward your new major's requirements.
2 Can I reverse my transfer after it has been approved?
Yes, you can reverse your transfer within 72 hours of its execution. If you change your mind or have concerns, you must act quickly to cancel the transfer request. Contact the appropriate administrative office as soon as possible to initiate the reversal process within the specified 72-hour window.
3 Can I transfer from a non-health related major to a health-related specialty?
Transfers from non-health related majors (including scientific or theoretical specializations) to health-related specialties are not permitted. This policy applies to all students regardless of their current field of study, as health-related programs require specific prerequisites and typically require students to start the curriculum from the beginning.
4 What are the conditions for internal transfer within the university?
Internal transfers within the university (between colleges, departments, or specializations) are subject to several conditions. Students are allowed only one transfer during their entire period of study. The student must have a "regular" academic status with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 out of 5.0. Undergraduate students must not have completed more than 4 semesters, while diploma students must not have completed more than 2 semesters, including periods of withdrawal or approved leaves. Additionally, the GPA must be based on at least two completed semesters, and the applicant must not have transferred previously from another institution. Transfer requests must be submitted electronically through the Academia account during the specified period announced in the university calendar. All requests are subject to the capacity of the target department, and students are ranked by their cumulative grade points. Transfers to health specializations are restricted to students already in medical specializations who have completed their first-year courses.
5 When can I apply for an internal transfer?
The application periods for internal transfers are not fixed and may vary each academic year. To stay informed about upcoming internal transfer application dates, regularly check the university's main website at www.kku.edu.sa. These platforms will announce the specific dates when internal transfer applications are accepted. It is advisable to monitor these sources frequently to ensure you don't miss the application window.
