Guided by Dr. Abdullah Al-Melhi, Dean, and represented by Dr. Abdulkhaleq Al Qahtani, Vice Dean of Higher Studies, the English Club held an informative orientation for all Level 1 students on March 5, 2017. The session was co-presented by Dr. Abdulkhaleq Al Qahtani, Dr. Mohammed Assiri, Vice Dean of Academic Development and Quality, Dr. Munassir Alhamami, Chair of the English Department, Dr. Basim Kanaan, Academic Advisor, and Hassan Asiri, Director of Student Activities.

Under the leadership of Dr. Abdullah Al-Melhi, Dean, the E-Learning Unit of the Faculty of Languages and Translation orchestrated an enriching "E-Learning Awareness Campaign." The campaign, targeting Level 1 department and English Language Centre (ELC) students, ran from Sunday, February 26, 2017, to Thursday, March 2, 2017.

Dr. Mohammed S. Assiri, Vice Dean for Academic Development & Quality, lauded the efforts of the E-Learning Unit in organizing the campaign, reiterating that such initiatives substantially contribute to students' pursuit of academic excellence.

On February 27, 2017, the Language Research Center at the Faculty of Languages and Translation hosted a thought-provoking seminar featuring Dr. Basim Kanan's presentation, The Effect of Expansion of Vision Span on Reading Speed. This insightful presentation was founded on a research study conducted by Dr. Basim Kanan, Salahud Din Abdul-Rab, and Ahlullah Siddiqui.

On Monday, December 19, 2016, Professor Abdullah Hadi Al-Qahtani led a compelling discussion titled "Teaching as an Experience." The British Council in Saudi Arabia recently conducted an intensive "Train the Trainer" workshop on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) for the staff at King Khalid University. The event took place on the 16^th and 17^th of December and was specifically designed for the faculty of the Faculty of Languages and Translation.
