On January 29, 2025, the Alumni Unit of the College of Languages & Translation (CLT) organized an insightful workshop entitled “From Theory to Practice: Strategies for Solving the Jahiziyah Applied Linguistics Exam” designed for Level 7 and 8 students. The workshop was held on Wednesday at 12:00 pm in Room 65 on the ground floor of the CLT.

Dr. Merzin Alshahrani, a distinguished expert in applied linguistics and the former Vice Rector of Quality for the university, led the workshop by sharing valuable strategies that enabled students to confidently tackle the challenging Jahiziyah Applied Linguistics Exam. He highlighted key exam techniques, common challenges, and best practices for applying linguistic theories in practical contexts. His interactive session seamlessly integrated theoretical knowledge with practical applications, providing attendees with a comprehensive understanding of the exam’s intricacies. Furthermore, Dr. Alshahrani emphasized the importance of bridging the gap between theoretical concepts and practical implementation.

Dr. Ali Alamry, Chairman of the English Department, also participated in the session, emphasizing the significance of integrating theoretical knowledge with real-world applications. He expressed his satisfaction with the workshop’s contribution to the objectives of the English program, noting its pivotal role in preparing students for the forthcoming nationalized Jahiziyah exam.

The session was coordinated by Mohsin Raza Khan, the Alumni Unit Coordinator, and attended by Level 7 and 8 students who actively engaged in the discussion by asking questions and participating in hands-on exercises designed to strengthen their exam strategies.

The session concluded with a Q&A segment during which Dr. Alshahrani addressed student concerns and provided guidance. The workshop was well received, as students expressed their appreciation for its practical approach and exam-oriented focus. The Alumni Unit remains committed to organizing similar initiatives to support students in their academic and professional journeys.
