On November 12, 2014, an orientation session was conducted for the new faculty members who joined the College during the current semester. This annual event, held at the beginning of each academic year, provides a comprehensive overview of the College and University divisions and offices, while also outlining the rights and responsibilities applicable to all faculty members.

Dr. Abdullah Al-Melhi, the Dean of the College, delivered a warm welcome address to the new faculty, emphasizing their pivotal role in the College's functioning. He expressed his vision of the faculty as a close-knit family of trusted colleagues who not only value each other's professional competence but also offer support and friendship on a daily basis.

Dr. Abdulkhalek Al-Qahtani, the Vice Dean of Academic Development & Quality, provided an overview of the goals and activities of the Unit for Development and Quality. He placed particular emphasis on elucidating the ongoing internal and external evaluation processes within the College.

Hassan Costello presented an informative session on the reporting responsibilities of faculty members, focusing on the contents of the Course File and the elaboration of end-of-semester Course Reports.

Dr. Ali Alamir, the Chair of the English Department, introduced himself and stressed the importance of fostering an atmosphere of openness and trust among colleagues.

Additional presentations were made on various topics, including:

  • The Language Research Center
  • The E-Learning Deanship
  • Accessing and utilizing the University's online system for staff information
  • Changing the KKU password
  • A slideshow offering suggestions to students on problem-solving and achieving academic success, including an introduction to the Language Enhancement Program (LEP)
  • Utilizing the Blackboard online educational platform

Dr. Ahmed Al-Faifi spoke about the mission and work of the Islamic Center in Khamis Mushayt, providing the new faculty members with copies of several publications from the Center.

After the conclusion of the orientation session, all participants were invited to enjoy refreshments, including pizza, fostering an atmosphere of collegial friendship and conviviality that the Dean and all faculty members truly appreciate.

A special acknowledgment goes to Mr. Weatherford Thomson, the Master of Ceremonies, for his role in facilitating the event.

Overall, the orientation session provided valuable information and set the stage for new faculty members to integrate into the College community, fostering an environment of camaraderie and collaboration.
