CLT Commends Translation Students for Sixth-Place Success in “Tahadi La Aseer” Hackathon

On February 4, 2025, the College of Languages & Translation (CLT) proudly congratulated a team of master’s students in translation for securing sixth place in the Tourism Track of the “Tahadi La Aseer” hackathon, organized by the Aseer Region Development Authority. The event took place at 6:30 p.m. in the Cultural Center in Muhayil, Aseer.

The team, known as Guided by Touch (إرشاد بلمسة), comprised:

  • Azza Saeed Alshehri
  • Remas Mohammed Alfaifi
  • Maisam Mohammed Alqahtani
  • Raghad Fahad Almughaidi

They impressed the judging panel with an innovative application designed to provide interactive services and exploratory experiences for blind and visually impaired tourists visiting the Aseer region. Notably, the application supports multiple languages, reflecting the students’ dedication to inclusive tourism and multilingual accessibility.

The CLT community commended the students’ efforts in harnessing technology to address a real-world need, particularly in the rapidly expanding tourism sector of Aseer. By merging linguistic expertise with forward-thinking design, the team demonstrated the practical impact of translation studies on social and cultural development.

As the hackathon concluded, participants and organizers alike praised the students’ commitment to innovation and community service. The College of Languages & Translation reaffirmed its support for student-led initiatives that advance inclusive experiences, underscoring the institution’s broader mission to foster creativity and engagement across diverse fields.
