The Language Research Center recently hosted a dynamic seminar that brought together faculty and students for an engaging discussion on key issues in the field of translation. Lecturers Mr. Eisa Al-Eisa and Mr. Ibrahim Alasmri led the session, each offering insights from their specialized areas of expertise.

Mr. Eisa Al-Eisa opened the seminar with a compelling exploration of ethical principles in translation. Emphasizing the importance of professional integrity, he discussed how translators must navigate issues of accuracy, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity in their work. His presentation sparked thoughtful discussion among attendees about the real-world implications of ethical decision-making in professional translation.

Following this, Mr. Ibrahim Alasmri delivered a talk on the cohesion of translated language. He highlighted the linguistic and stylistic strategies that ensure a translated text reads fluently and logically in the target language. Drawing on examples from literary and technical texts, Mr. Alasmri demonstrated how cohesion is not merely a linguistic feature, but a marker of quality in translation that shapes readers’ understanding.

Together, the two lectures provided a well-rounded perspective on the moral and textual responsibilities of translators, offering students valuable takeaways for both academic study and professional practice.
