Alumni Unit Delivers Professional Job Skills Webinar
On March 23, 2021, the Faculty of Languages and Translation hosted a webinar titled 'Professional Job Skills', led by Mr. Javed Ahmed. The session, facilitated by Dr. Abdulrahman Almosa, Vice Dean for Academic Development & Quality, and supported by Mr. Mohsin Khan, E-Learning Supervisor, aimed to prepare the upperclassmen and alumni of the Bachelor of Arts in English program for the evolving expectations of today's professional environments.
During the session, Mr. Javed elucidated why companies prioritize adaptability and contemporary skills in their hiring processes, with a strong focus on multitasking abilities. "The objective of this webinar was to enable our alumni to understand and cultivate resilience, mental agility, and adaptability," Mr. Javed explained.
He proceeded to highlight the most sought-after professional skills in the current job market and discussed how honing these skills could bolster competitiveness for job seekers. "Noticing several alumni attending this webinar, it's crucial to remember that employers are not only seeking hard workers but also smart workers. It's essential for potential candidates to shift away from traditional modes of thinking," Mr. Javed added.
The session concluded with a schematic diagram presentation, a tool designed to stimulate multi-dimensional intelligence and assist participants in thinking, visualizing, and actualizing in a more dynamic way.
The Bachelor of Arts in English program remains committed to enhancing the professional development of its students and alumni through supplementary activities, ensuring alignment with learning outcomes and labor market trends.
