Under the guidance of Dean Abdullah Al-Melhi, the Faculty of Languages and Translation is proud to announce the launch of its inaugural Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) program, set to begin in the fall of 2020.

The new degree program will focus on applied linguistics and will be supervised by the English Department. The Ministry of Education granted approval for this program, aligning it with the standards set by the National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Assessment (NCAAA) and enabling enrollment to commence in the fall term.

Vice Dean for Higher Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Munassir Alhamami, commented on the potential of the new program: "We are host to many gifted language teachers and researchers in the region who can enhance their qualifications and skills through the Doctor of Philosophy in Applied Linguistics program. This would enable them to contribute to solving practical language problems that occur in educational and professional institutions locally and regionally."

The decision to expand the graduate programs at the Faculty of Languages and Translation has been a collective effort involving many colleagues over the years. While it's impossible to individually acknowledge each person for their contributions, the faculty expresses deep gratitude to all those who donated their time and effort.

The primary target audience for the Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics includes recent graduates from master's programs in applied linguistics, licensed Ministry of Education English teachers with a Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics or a related field, and highly qualified international students who possess near-native fluency in both Arabic and English.
