This study investigates the psychometric properties of the Arabic version of the Children’s Communication Checklist-Second Edition (CCC-2) for diagnosing communication challenges in Arabic-speaking children. It aims to validate CCC-2’s reliability and effectiveness in measuring constructs related to Specific Language Impairment (SLI), Social Communication Disorder (SCD), and Impaired Behavior. Conducted with 121 participants in Saudi Arabia, the study uses partial least squares-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) to confirm the scale’s validity. Results show strong reliability and internal consistency, particularly in the SLI and SCD constructs, as indicated by high Cronbach’s alpha values and the Average Variance Extracted (AVE) metrics.
The CCC-2 adaptation is found to be highly effective in assessing distinct communication disorders in children, and discriminant validity confirms its suitability for evaluating various communication constructs in an Arabic context. The findings endorse the Arabic CCC-2 as a valuable tool for clinical and educational professionals to diagnose communication difficulties, enabling targeted early interventions. Additionally, the study suggests extending future research to clinical populations and expanding the tool to measure broader communicative behaviors.
