The paper titled "The Impact of Using YouTubes and Audio Tracks Imitation YATI on Improving Speaking Skills of EFL Learners" primarily focuses on evaluating the effectiveness of using YouTube videos and audio tracks for enhancing the speaking skills of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners. The research investigates whether these tools, collectively referred to as the YouTube and Audio Tracks Imitation (YATI) approach, can significantly improve students' fluency, pronunciation, and overall speaking performance.
The purpose of the study is to determine the impact of the YATI approach on EFL learners' speaking abilities, specifically in terms of fluency and pronunciation. The study aims to address common challenges in teaching speaking skills, such as the lack of vocabulary, poor pronunciation, and ineffective speaking practices. The research scope includes a comparison between traditional teaching methods and the YATI approach, focusing on students enrolled in a Listening and Speaking course at King Khalid University.
The study employs a qualitative experimental approach, involving 48 English major students divided into two sections: one serving as the control group and the other as the experimental group. Data was collected through pretests and posttests to evaluate the effectiveness of the YATI approach. The pretests ensured homogeneity between the two groups, while the posttests, analyzed using the SPSS Pearson correlation coefficient, were used to measure the improvement in speaking skills.
The key findings of the research indicate that the YATI approach had a positive impact on the students' speaking skills. The experimental group, which utilized YouTube videos and audio tracks for imitation, showed significant improvement in fluency, pronunciation, and overall speaking performance compared to the control group. The statistical analysis confirmed that the difference in performance between the two groups was significant, suggesting that the YATI approach is a more effective method for teaching speaking skills than traditional approaches.
The study concludes that the YATI approach is an effective pedagogical tool for improving the speaking skills of EFL learners. It emphasizes the importance of integrating technology, such as YouTube and audio tracks, into language teaching to enhance students' engagement and learning outcomes. The findings imply that the YATI approach could be further developed and recommended for broader application in EFL curricula to improve oral proficiency. The researchers highlight the potential of this method to help students overcome common speaking challenges and suggest that it can lead to more effective language learning experiences.
