Developing Transcreation Skills in Translation Studies: Training University Lectures to Address Demands for Creative Translation

This study explores methods to develop transcreation skills among translation studies lecturers to meet growing demands for creative translation. Conducted with 97 university lecturers, the study uses a quantitative approach to evaluate effective strategies for training educators in transcreation, a skill combining linguistic adaptation, cultural sensitivity, and creative writing. Findings reveal that training should prioritize bilingual proficiency, creative writing, cultural awareness, and digital media skills to address industry needs. The study identifies that integrating transcreation projects, industry collaboration, technology tools, and professional development programs significantly enhances lecturers' ability to teach these skills.

Results support that lecturers with professional experience in transcreation are more proficient in teaching these skills than those relying solely on academic qualifications. Challenges include resource limitations and varying pedagogical approaches. The study recommends adopting a blended training strategy combining practical, collaborative, and technology-enhanced learning to equip educators with comprehensive transcreation skills, ultimately enhancing student employability in creative translation roles.
