On October 2, 2019, the Language Research Center hosted a workshop conducted by Mohammad Adil, entitled 'Practising Professionalism in EFL Teaching'. The workshop aimed to enrich participants' understanding of effective classroom strategies and test administration practices through a combination of instructional sessions and interactive brainstorming tasks.

The workshop initiated with an engaging warm-up task, providing participants with an opportunity to reflect on their existing knowledge of good classroom practices, thus setting the stage for further learning.

Adil's instructive session commenced with a discussion on 'Principled Eclecticism' and learner-centered teaching. He underlined the importance of tailoring teaching methods to learners' unique needs and the subject matter at hand. Highlighting the significance of well-crafted lesson plans, he shared insights into different stages and formats of lesson planning, explaining that a meticulously designed lesson plan can drive the organization and success of the entire class.

Additionally, Adil emphasized the importance of utilizing the whiteboard effectively to foster an engaging, effective, and intriguing classroom environment. "The transformation of the entire classroom environment is possible through successful whiteboard use," Adil asserted, illustrating several versatile ways to incorporate the whiteboard into teaching.

The workshop also delved into crucial aspects of testing. Adil shed light on key considerations to bear in mind before designing a test, while developing the test, and after finalizing the test. The discussion encompassed the importance of preparing students for exams, ensuring clarity of instructions in tests, and fulfilling the established testing criteria.

In the spirit of engagement and collaboration, several brainstorming tasks were incorporated into the input sessions, fostering a dynamic and interactive learning environment.

The workshop was a resounding success, bolstering the participants' awareness and understanding of effective and professional English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teaching practices.
