On November 27, 2019, Dr. Ahlullah Siddiqui of the Bachelor of Arts in English program delivered a presentation titled 'Interpretive Reading' at a seminar organized by the Language Research Center. The presentation was based on a research paper that he co-authored with Dr. Ahmad Ismail Assiri titled, "Interpretive Reading as a Strategy to Construct Meaning in EFL Reading Comprehension: A Case Study at KKU EFL Classroom."

Dr. Siddiqui's presentation centered on the efficacy of interpretive reading in enhancing reading comprehension. He drew attention to prior studies conducted by renowned scholars like Alsamadini (2009), Al-Jarf (2007), Carrell (1989), and Cooper (1984). He underscored that these studies substantiated the positive correlation between language proficiency and the ability to understand written texts, and highlighted the role of reading in vocabulary acquisition.

According to Dr. Siddiqui, interpretive reading involves effectively communicating the thoughts and emotions of an author to the listener. He outlined the objectives of his research: to ascertain whether interpretive reading significantly affects students' reading comprehension; to examine the effectiveness of interpretive reading with various types of texts; to compare the impact of interpretive reading with silent reading and reading aloud; and to propose strategies for teachers to incorporate interpretive reading in their instruction.

While explaining the research methodology, Dr. Siddiqui also contrasted the statistical data from the control group with that of the experimental group. He concluded the presentation with a detailed exposition of the research outcomes. To illustrate, he shared two video clips demonstrating examples of interpretive reading.

The seminar was marked by high levels of interaction, culminating in a successful academic exchange. Notably, the seminar was also attended by representatives from the King Abdullah Road Campus.
