The 4th Spelling Bee Competition of the second semester of the academic year proved to be an exciting and enduring battle for the fifteen spellers from the Department of English. On 21st April 2014, after 19 intriguing rounds, the competition finally reached its conclusion. The event was graced by the presence of the Honorable Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Translation, Dr. Abdullah Al-Melhi, who served as the chief guest. Accompanying him were Vice Dean of Quality, Dr. Abdulkhaleq Al-Qahtani, esteemed faculty members, and students from various colleges, all eager to witness the participants' passion for spelling.

In a display of exceptional spelling abilities, Khalid Amer Al Shehri from level 2 emerged as the victor of the Spelling Bee battle. The decisive moment came when he flawlessly spelled the word "Assistance," securing his well-deserved victory. Mohsin Mamduh claimed the second position, while Saad Mohammad, also from level 2, finished in third place. Their impressive performances showcased their dedication and proficiency in spelling.

The competition was organized by veteran professor Dr. Golam Faruk, who expressed his hope of taking this competition to the national level in the future. He emphasized the importance of collective effort to overcome any obstacles that may arise. Dr. Faruk extended his gratitude to the writing course teachers, including Mr. Mathew Paul, Mr. Weather Ford, Dr. Nurul Islam, Dr. Nisar, Mr. Fuad, and Mr. Adil, for their unwavering support in preparing the young spellers from different levels.

The spelling competition featured a distinguished panel of judges from the Faculty of Languages and Translation. Dr. Michael, Matthew Paul, Mr. Adil, and Mr. Ford expertly evaluated the participants' spelling acumen. Notably, Mr. Ford and Dr. Michael served as the official pronouncers for American and British pronunciation, respectively, adding an international dimension to the competition.

The Spelling Bee Competition was an arduous yet rewarding endeavor, showcasing the talent and commitment of the participants. The organizers' vision to elevate the competition to a national level and the continuous support provided by the faculty exemplify the commitment of the Faculty of Languages and Translation to nurturing academic excellence and promoting language skills.
