For the second time in the 2013-2014 academic year, the Faculty of Languages and Translation witnessed a remarkable showcase of linguistic prowess. On 4th March 2014, fifteen talented spellers from the Department of English gathered in Auditorium Five (5) for an exhilarating spelling showdown.

The event received an esteemed lineup of guests, including the Honorable Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Translation, Dr. Abdullah Al Melhi, who graced the occasion as the chief guest. Joining him were Dr. Abdulkhaleq Al-Qahtani, Vice Dean of Quality and Development, and Dr. Sayed As Sarf, Director of the English Club. Faculty members and students from various colleges eagerly filled the auditorium, excited to witness the participants' fervor for spelling.

In an intense battle of words, Tareq Ali Humaidi, a level 1 student from the English Department, emerged as the victor of the spelling bee competition. The defining moment came when he flawlessly spelled the word "Spectacular."

Claiming the second position was Abdur Rahman, also from level 1, while Jaber, another level 1 student, secured the third spot. Their impressive performances showcased their dedication and talent in mastering the English language.

The Spelling Bee Competition was magnificently organized by Professor Dr. Golam Faruk, who emphasized the significance of such contests in honing students' academic abilities. He described them as invaluable platforms for personal growth and expressed gratitude to the writing course teachers, Mr. Siraj, coordinator of Writing-1, Mr. Joseph, Dr. Osman, Mr. Matthew Paul, and Mr. Hassan Costello, for their unwavering support in preparing the young spellers.

A distinguished panel of judges from the Faculty of Languages and Translation expertly presided over the competition. Dr. Soren, Mr. Siraj, Mr. Matthew Paul, and Mr. Hassan Costello meticulously evaluated the participants' spelling skills. Notably, Mr. Hassan Costello and Dr. Soren added an international touch to the event by articulating words in American and British pronunciation, respectively.

Despite a minor acoustic issue at the beginning, promptly resolved by the technical team, the competition progressed seamlessly, leaving participants and spectators thoroughly delighted. In recognition of the efforts and active participation of all contestants, as well as to celebrate the winners, everyone received well-deserved rewards.

The resounding success of the Spelling Bee Competition exemplifies our unwavering commitment to fostering academic excellence and nurturing students' language skills. By organizing events of this nature, the college provides a supportive environment for aspiring scholars to thrive, encouraging their growth and development.
